Yahooligans: A child friendly version of Yahoo.  Set up in much the same way as the parent site, kids can search by keyword or category.

KidsClick:  Much like Yahooligans, this site is also child friendly.  You can search by key word or category.  Search results also include the approximate reading level of text found in the site.

NASA KIDS A well designed, interactive site, by the people who brought us freeze-dried ice cream and the space shuttle.

Metropolitan Museum of Art -- Explore & LearnTour this virtual museum, study the art work, learn about artists and participate in the activities.  You may even run into Claudia and Jamie.

KidsHealth.org - My Body : "How do different parts of our bodies work? Click on one here and enter a world of information especially for kids."

American MemoryAn online exhibit of digitized documents and images from the Library of Congress.  This site offers of variety of historical exhibits.

BrainBashers:  Although this is not a site where you bang your head against a wall, you may want to after attempting some of the more difficult brain teasers, riddles, logic, language and math puzzles. 

Web Gallery of Art: "The Web Gallery of Art contains over 6,500 digital reproductions of European paintings and sculptures created between the years 1150 and 1750." The site also includes numerous biographies.

SandlotScience.com: This site " features visual oddities and optical illusions. Includes interactive experiments, projects, games, puzzles and more!"

CNNFYI:  A great online news source for students and parents alike.
